Context
The study by Li et al used tai chi (TC) to treat postural instability in people with Parkinson's disease.
Methods
Participants, aged 40–85 years, with mild to moderate Parkinson's disease, were randomised into three groups: TC, resistance-training or stretching. All groups met for 60 min twice per week for 24 weeks. The TC programme consisted of six distinct forms that focused on balance and locomotion. The resistance programme focused on the lower extremity and trunk muscles responsible for posture, balance and gait.
