    Citation Excerpt :

Autopsy studies on all the 17 patients who died showed patchy hemorrhagic pneumonia, a brain with edematous changes and petechial hemorrhages in the white matter, and a liver with patchy yellowish discoloration and histology of fatty change. The Kapila syndrome of post-influenza hepatic and neurologic disease was detailed 5 ye later by Reye et al18 in children rather than in adults. Learning from experience with previous influenza and coronavirus infection outbreaks may prove valuable.19-25
