PubMed, Medline, Ovid (September 2005), and reference lists.
Study selection and assessment:
published, peer reviewed studies in English that evaluated both the EMA and tTG tests in the same untreated patients and controls (adults or children). Coeliac disease had to be confirmed by histology of small bowel biopsy, with the criteria for diagnosis provided (partial or more severe villous atrophy in most studies).
