Context
Recommendations for indications and timing of antiretroviral therapy have continued to evolve since the introduction of highly active antiretroviral therapy. Updated guidelines from the International Antiviral Society (IAS)—USA Panel have recently been issued to inform clinicians in resource-rich settings of best practices based on treatment advances and increased understanding of HIV pathophysiology.
Methods
Consensus antiretroviral therapy guidelines were last issued from the IAS-USA Panel in July 2010.
