High-sensitivity troponin (hs-TnT) assays have been developed for early recognition of patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Additionally, hs-TnT has been shown to be a feasible tool for assessing risk among patients with heart failure. Even though efforts have been made to improve prognosis among patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) with high-risk features, most adverse events occur in patients without these features. Therefore, novel risk markers for ‘intermediate risk’ participants are needed.
