6 medical and social sciences databases, journals that frequently reported decision aid studies, personal files, and experts in the field.

Embedded ImageStudy selection and assessment:

randomised controlled trials comparing decision aids with no intervention, usual care, alternative interventions, or a combination in people >14 years of age who were making decisions about screening or treatment options for themselves, a child, or a significant other. Quality was assessed using CREDIBLE criteria for decision aids and the Jadad scale for trials.
